Today I am teaming up with my bestie Tiffany who runs the blog My Happy Coincidence  Her blog is pretty awesome! If you love art, music, and books then you should be reading her blog. Trust me, you will love it!

Together we have comprised a list of our favorite books we read this year.  These books are worthy of being wrapped up with a pretty bow and placed under the Christmas tree for a friend, family member or loved one.

Giving books is the best way to share the joy you’ve have while reading with someone else! So, Eco Chic Cayman and My Happy Coincidence have come up with a list of our favourite 2015 reads that make great Holiday Gifts!

Eco Chic Cayman Picks

  1. Paper Towns: By, John Green

Paper towns

Paper Towns is officially one of my all-time favorite books! I did not expect to fall in love with this book as much as I did. To be honest, I had no idea what the book was even about. I saw a glimpse of the movie trailer and just had to read the book first. I devoured that book in 2 or 3 nights.  I loved everything about it.  It is one of those books I wish was around when I when I was high school.  Nevertheless I discovered this book and will treasure its story.  Perhaps my favorite part about this book is all the quotes taken from Leaves of Grass and used as clues so that Quentin can go on his quest to find Margo. I thought author, John Green did an awesome job! This is one of my books where I have highlighted all my favorite quotes and left little notes in the margins.  I loved the depth of this book.  John Green wrote some of the best lines/quotes in this novel.  Words that will stay with me forever. It has been a while since I have read a book that the words really had an impact on me.  Instead of telling you the plot of the story, I will leave you with a few one of my favorite quotes. My hope is you will want to discover this book for yourself. I hope you fall in love with this book as much as I did.

2. Of Human Bondage: By, W. Somerset Maugham

of human bondage

Of Human Bondage, is the classic Bildungsroman.  If you are a English Major then you will want to read this book! Another book of mine with post-it notes marking pages, highlighted quotes and notes in the margins.  In short, this book captures love, art, the journey of an artist/writer, and life with all of its complexities. Pick up a copy and enjoy!

MHC’s Picks
The Goldfinch, Donna Tartt
the goldfinch
Donna Tartt’s thriller is one of those books that makes it hard to read anything else directly after it. In some ways, I am so happy that I didn’t read it until late this year because every other book I have picked up since has paled in comparison; in other ways, I’m sorry I waited so long to enjoy this masterpiece.
Ideal for: mystery seekers, art appreciators, long-read lovers
Let the Elephants Run, David Usher
let the elephants run
David Usher’s fiction on the art of creativity and preserving your creative energy is a thrill to read. Simply flipping through this book’s masterfully designed pages is sure to inspire your creative juices. A must read for those who are mystified by creativity’s unreliable nature.
Ideal for: creatives, designers, those stuck-in-a-rut
Girl with a Pearl Earring, Tracy Chevalier
girl_with_a_pearl_earring_book_7881
Tracy Chevalier’s novel is masterfully written and instantly captivating. Her descriptions are rich as she paints the story behind Vermeer’s famous painting with literary colours as penetrating as Vermeer’s own jewel-toned paint.
Ideal for: art appreciators, short-read lovers, poets
Happy Reading! xo
