It’s that time of year… Travel season! Time to say goodbye to home and hello to wanderlust. A great love to travel, comes with a great responsibility to travel environmentally responsibly. Below are 5 eco-friendly travel trips for you next or upcoming travel adventure.
5 Ways to Travel Eco-Friendly
1. En Route
Air travel causes a lot of pollution, there is no doubt about it. However, if one must travel via air, then try to travel direct, as much as possible. Connecting flights add to more pollution being dumped into the atmosphere. Plus, it can be a nuisance when traveling. However, sometimes it is unavoidable.
2. Stay at an eco-friendly hotel
Whenever possible choose eco-friendly accommodations. Eco-friendly hotels with a commitment to effective waste treatment, recycling, and being energy efficient is a good start to being an environmentally responsible traveler.
3. B.Y.O.B.
Bring your own bottle! Plastic bottles are just not cool. When traveling, bring your own bottle and look for hydration stations in airports and other public spaces to fill up your water bottle. Alternatively, if you buy bottled water, reuse the bottle and then recycle it.
4. Use eco-friendly transport
No need to rent a car and add to burning fossil fuels and air pollution. Choose to take a taxi, if necessary. Otherwise, using public transport such as buses and subways are really good options. Walking, is not a bad idea either, especially when traveling and there are loads of sights to see.
5. Soak up the sun
For those of you heading to a paradise destination and can’t wait to soak up the sun, just be conscious of the sunblock you use. It’s important to fight those UV rays, but try to use eco-friendly sunblock. When diving into those crystal clear waters, sunblock can be harmful and damaging to the coral reefs. Therefore, it is important to use eco-friendly sunblock. Most importantly, be respectful of the environment. Please, don’t touch the reef. When exploring the coral reefs look with your eyes not your hands.
Bon Voyage and safe travels!

Very nice tips. It’s especially important to not fly crazy deroutes with airplanes. It’s polluting the air that much…
