Ode to Earth Hour

(David Innis, Elaine Graham, Nicholas Dixey, Rebecca Wall, Paul Febres, Kimberley Febres, and Laura Butz) The first ever Earth Hour event for the Cayman Islands was a wonderful success!  A huge thank you to everyone who came out to The Crescent, Camana Bay on Saturday night to celebrate Earth Hour with the National Trust for the Cayman Islands.  It was an incredible night!  Cayman’s very own, local musicians: Earl La Pierre, David Innis and the Singrays had stellar performances.  The acoustic music, with the backdrop of the Crescent Fountain, was absolutely lovely.  The night also included, star gazing.  The Astronomical Society of the Cayman Islands, brought their epic telescope so attendees could gaze at the moon and stars. Snapshots of Earth Hour 2015   Under The Stars Chris Cooke, from the Astronomical Society of the Cayman Islands and his team, brought their fantastic telescope for star gazing.   To The Beat of the Steel Pan Local steel pan legend, Mr Earl La Pierre, played a wonderful medley of songs on the steel pan.   Singrays: …

Festival of Seas: Blue Gala

(Silent Auction Artwork & Photography donated by Cathy Church, Ellen Cuylaerts, Guy Harvey and Dready 2013)   Happy Friday Everyone! It is with great pleasure to announce that tomorrow night the 10th annual Festival of Seas: Blue Gala Dinner fundraising event will be held at the ARC, Camana Bay. The Blue Gala dinner helps to raise funds for the Central Caribbean Marine Institute. The CCMI is located in our beloved Little Cayman. The Central Caribbean Marine Institute is Cayman’s only non-profit, and non-governmental organization dedicated to understanding and protecting the islands’ reefs and the life they support. All proceeds directly benefit the CCMI’s mission of protecting the coral reefs for the future. “Currently the work of CCMI shows that although coral cover declined significantly following the 1999 global coral bleaching event, reefs in Cayman recovered completely by 2012.” Our coral reefs are vital to the Cayman Islands, as they are imperative to our ecosystem. Not to mention, a national treasure which divers around the world come to see. Lets help protect our beautiful coral …

Totally Fresh Cayman’s Moringa Lemongrass Is My Cup Of Tea….

For all you tea lovers you are in luck! Totally Fresh Cayman produces and brews the finest Moringa Loose Leaf Tea on the island! My personal favorite is the Moringa Lemongrass Iced Tea.  James Pedley, the owner, grows Moringa on his farm.  He has two signature teas Moringa and Moringa Lemongrass.  Due to limited supply herbs such as mint and basil can be requested by special order.  James is dedicated to growing the finest ingredients for his high quality island tea.  Coming soon are new tea flavors, herbs and produce.  Just this year James introduced his line of Moringa Loose Leaf Tea and Iced Tea at Camana Bay’s Farmer’s Market.  It is quickly becoming an island favorite.  Additionally, the Greenhouse Cafe was one of the first restaurants to begin serving his Moringa Lemongrass Iced Tea as a staple part of their drink menu.  It was there that I was first introduced to this delicious tea! Moringa Tea is becoming widely popular, due to its rich antioxidants properties.  Moringa Trees have been coined as a “miracle …

Juice Bars + Summer Days

Drinking all natural & 100% organic juices and smoothies that are full of flavor and jam-packed with healthy benefits is very in vogue right now- just as it should be.  Cayman is very blessed to have the one and only lovely Jessie’s Juice Bar located at Camana Bay.  The juice bar is stocked with vibrant fresh fruit and veggie juices, along with tasty savory eats and yummy treats.  It is the perfect place to stop by for a healthy lunch or smoothie while on the go. The decor is just fabulous! As it is very eco chic and environment friendly.  You will instantly fall in love with this place.  It is such a treat to find a place that repurposes items, and incorporates being environmentally responsible into their decor.  Overall, Jessie’s Juice Bar really sets the bar.  Simply put it is a wonderful local hot spot. Perhaps the essence of Jessie’s Juice bar is that it is a family run business which truly cares about offering fresh and healthy food and drink options.  Items …
