“He Have Founded Us Upon The Seas”

In Honor of Discovery Day, I decided to make some commemorative decorations.  In 1503, Christopher Columbus came across the beautiful islands known today as the Cayman Islands.  A place I call home.  Originally, Columbus named the islands “Las Tortugas,” due to the overwhelming amount of turtles swimming in the surrounding waters of the islands.   The phrase, “He Have Founded Us Upon The Seas” is written on our national flag, below the coat of arms.                 Above is the second canvas, which has lyrics from the Cayman Islands National Song, “Beloved Isle Cayman,” written by the late Mrs. Leila Ross Shier, in 1930. How I made it What you will need: Canvas, parcel paper and tape. To keep it as eco friendly as possible, I repurposed some canvas with parcel paper.  The parcel paper helped achieve a vintage or aged look.  I found a wonderful font for the print.  I printed the design and then wrapped the parcel paper around the …

DIY: Eco Chic Photo Canvas

This Christmas, I am attempting to make more homemade gifts.  For your friends and family who love photos, a fun and easy project is transferring a photo onto a canvas.  After researching this on Pinterest (which has a wealth of information for DIY projects) I tried out a few different methods.  After some trial and error I finally found a method which worked for me.  For my photo transfer onto canvas, I choose one of my favorite photos of my mother and I which was taken on one of her birthdays.  Yep, the camera got me when my eyes were closed.  Nonetheless, I love this photo. It will look like this.       …

I harness any inspiration or sparks of creatvity and just paint.  Granted I am purely just an amateur  when it comes to painting.  I love experimenting with different abstract ideas.  Personally, I am drawn to earthy colors like 50 shades of blue,  greens, a sea of turquoise variations, and every now and then I like to mix in some gold. Since I am not particularly attached to any of my works of art, I …
