Poetry, Art + Saving the Planet

Recently, I was listening to the song Dream Catch Me, by Newton Faulkner and it reminded me of my many trips to Australia.  I love how songs can transport you back to different places you have visited and times in your life.  The lyrics of this song ignited inspiration in me, to write.  It’s been a long time since I have written anything.  A passion of mine is writing poetry and short stories.  As for the blog, sorry everyone, that I haven’t made any recent posts until now.  I guess it’s best to write when you are inspired and can produce quality writing.  Writing that I hope will inspire. Some years ago I was humbled, when a poem I wrote was featured in a local news paper for Earth Day.  I’d like to believe that when writing or producing art in any form, it is not just for the sake of creating art, but to inspire and make a positive difference in the world. Cayman Recycles, Creating A Greener Tomorrow

I absolutely love to hear about new “green” initiatives in Cayman.  It has been long overdue that Cayman started a proper recycling program, as a small island it is imperative that we strive to work towards a greener tomorrow.  Unfortunately, as consumers we have infinite wants and finite resources.  On a whole, as our desire to buy and consume more products grows, we are depleting our natural resources at a rapid rate.  Without implementing proper recycling programs or by choosing not to recycle, has a tremendous negative impact on the environment.  Thankfully, Cayman is working towards offering more greener options and recycling programs for the community.  A huge thanks to JUNK for starting a recycling program.  A special thank you to Kirk Market for sponsoring a recycling collection facility at their location.  Mr. Alberto Thompson, operations manager of JUNK Removal and Recycling, made an excellent point “if every household in the Cayman Islands were compelled to recycle, the amount of trash coming into the dump could be cut in half” (Cayman Compass).  JUNK is …

Summer Essentials: Beach Days, Road Trips & Travel

If you’re like me you love summer days! So far summer has been pretty awesome.  One of my favorite things to do is to take photos.  I love photography and experimenting with different filters and camera/video apps.  Taking photos isn’t just about capturing a moment so a memory can last a lifetime, or freeze a moment in time forever, it is also a means of expressing yourself creatively and in some instances capturing the natural beauty of a place. I think of all the places I have traveled to and of course my home is probably my absolute favorite place in the world.  Regardless of where I am in the world taking photos, is my way of taking a piece of that place home with me.  More than that, I have come to find that the more I take pictures of the beautiful landscape of my home or other places, I realize how beautiful this world is and how important it is to fight to save the planet and work towards finding solutions for todays …
