Take me past the shores of the seven seas…

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!  To kickoff my weekend, I was inspired to take the Poetry Saturday challenge by, My Happy Coincidence.  Here is one of my favorites, click here. A simple task… To take a moment, suspend myself in time and take in my surroundings, waiting to find a spark of inspiration to write.  I love writing, and it’s been a long time since I have actually written any short stories or poetry.  However, today, I have broken my writing silence, so to speak.  I put my headphones on and began listening to Lana Del Rey, while staring at a photograph of the ocean and the words just came.  I  began to fill the empty pages with poetry. Here you go, my #PoetrySaturday inspiration and creation. I hope you like it. Copyright © 2015 By Laura Butz Have a lovely weekend! with love, xo

Tiffany, founder of My Happy Coincidence in Toronto, and I are super excited about our new project we have teamed up for. This page is our Headquarters for Project: Words of Kindness: Right now the project is small, should it blossom into something bigger and more beautiful than we could imagine, – then we will look into creating an official website devoted just to Project: Words of Kindness. As for now, this will be home to Project: Words of Kindness. This is a collaborative effort between Tiffany and I, so please check out her blog My Happy Coincidence for exclusive and bonus posts for Project: Words of Kindness. Inspiring

I couldn’t have said it better.  A great message by Blake Lively in honor of International Women’s Day. To celebrate International Women’s Day, I have listed below three women who inspire me, by the work they do raising awareness for the environment and animal rights. Jane Goodall Jane Goodall is such an amazing lady!  Here is a link to her website to learn more about her incredible work. Alicia Silverstone I only recently purchased Alicia Silverstone’s book the Kind Diet and it is a great read.  It has inspired me to choose more vegan or vegetarian options in my diet.  I have to admit I am a work in progress.  Check out her awesome website The Kind Life. Gabriela Cowperthwaite  Gabriela Cowperthwaite director of Blackfish, a documentary which has had a profound impact on many.  It is one of the most powerful documentaries I have seen.  I applaud and admire Gabriela for her bravery to make this documentary. Feel free to share who inspires you to make this world a better place. with love …

Vinyl Records, Summer Days + the ticking of a clock

Only just recently have I gotten back into a mood of putting my records on and letting them play, (in reality it is my iTunes collection of music playing from my iPod or laptop) I can’t even remember the last time I played an actual cd and let the music fill the spaces and hallways of my house.  I have to confess it’s always been a secret wish or unfilled dream of mine to have a collection of vinyl records and a vintage record player.  I was heartbroken when I had to let go of my mothers collection of vinyl records.  She must have started her collection from when she was a teenager or in her early twenties- I remember seeing a lot of Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby.  She brought them all the way from London to Cayman.  Unfortunately her collection was ruined after hurricane Ivan (2004), and it was only just last year I finally parted with them.  There was no way to restore them.  I just had to let them …
