Polar Bears On Thin Ice

(Photo Credit: Huffington Post. Thomas Kokta / Caters News) Happy Kindness Wednesday!  This week is Polar Bear Week!  How awesome is that?  World Polar Bear Day is 27th February 2015.  In honor of the upcoming World Polar Bear Day, I am dedicating this post to polar bears. I absolutely love polar bears- they are one of my favorite animals. (Photo Credit: BBC) Polar bears are living on thin ice…  Since, May 2008, under the US Endangered Species Act, polar bears were listed as a threatened species.  This action was taken as a result of, the ongoing loss of their Arctic home- due to climate change.  As the Arctic continues to warm up, there is potential for greater loss of this fragile habitat.  “According to the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), ice coverage is likely to fall below one million square kilometres by 2050” (BBC)  Thus, if global action is not taken to preserve their natural habitat we could see a decline in the population of polar bears.  The thought of a world without polar …

A Kind Note…

Happy Kindness Wednesday! As you know Project Words Of Kindness is all about sprinkling more kindness into the world.  In honor of Valentine’s Day, which is just around the corner, I thought why not change things up and send “Kind Notes” instead of Love Notes?  A kind note comes from the heart, and is designed to put a smile on someone’s face.  Be creative and heartfelt.  Surprise someone this Valentine’s Day with a kind note. Below are the kind notes I will be passing out this Valentine’s Day.  To keep things eco-friendly, I have printed double-sided on each card.  One side has  the PWK mission statement, and the other has a little note with an inspiring kindness quote.  Each card has a different quote.     Have fun creating your kind notes! with love, xo

Special Delivery: Cupcakes

It’s Kindness Wednesday! Woohooo! Here is my post for Project: Words of Kindness. Today my act of kindness was baking up a batch of yummy cupcakes (If I do say so myself) and sharing them with friends, family and neighbors. I did a trial run of baking my sister’s birthday cake, as her birthday is almost a week away.  Instead of baking a whole cake, I baked cupcakes, as they are easy to share and deliver.  I made a Chocolate Cake infused with Raspberry Jam, iced with Marshmallow Frosting! Yum!  I am proud to say it was Vegan, also Dairy-free and Gluten-free. Made With Love: Chocolate Raspberry Cake with Marshmallow Frosting The cake mix was from the box, it’s dairy-free and gluten-free, and the raspberry jam is organic.  I whipped up the cake mix, and added the raspberry jam in the centre of the cupcakes with another layer of cake batter on top. The Frosting I found this amazing recipe on Pinterest.  I modified it by using a soy based butter. Enjoy!       …

Photo Credit: Tiffany Morgan ©2014 The Project: Words of Kindness is a space for kind thoughts, kind words, and acts of kindness. Tiffany, founder of My Happy Coincidence in Toronto, and I are super excited about our new project we have teamed up for. This page is our Headquarters for Project: Words of Kindness: Right now the project is small, should it blossom into something bigger and more beautiful than we could imagine, – then we will look into creating an official website devoted just to Project: Words of Kindness. As for now, this will be home to Project: Words of Kindness. This is a collaborative effort between Tiffany and I, so please check out her blog My Happy Coincidence for exclusive and bonus posts for Project: Words of Kindness. The Challenge: On New Year’s Day- We have 1 resolution to sprinkle the world in kindness. How are we gonna do it? By sending words of kindness to complete strangers, as well as friends and family -we couldn’t leave them out. All we ask …
