There is something truly special about the bond between a person and their dog.  Dogs are man’s best friend for a reason.  Dogs are loyal, compassionate and love unconditionally.  There are so many amazing stories out there about dogs enriching the lives of so many people.  At the end of the day our pets become a significant part of our family.  I am delighted to share with you a little bit about my good friend Alicia Proud’s adorable dog Mr. Fox.  Fox is an incredibly sweet dog that makes a positive impact in the lives of everyone he encounters.  Fox has been trained as a therapy dog and helps provide emotional support for those in need.   Q&A with Alicia Proud, Meet Mr. Fox. Greater Good: Fundraiser For Rescue Animals

Photo Credit: Eco Chic Cayman The Cayman Islands Humane Society will be hosting their annual Furball Fundraiser Saturday, 8th April 2017, 6:00pm at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.  This year, the gala is “Hollywood” themed.  Inviting the community to dress up ready for their Red Carpet moment as paparazzi take their photo as they attend this glamorous event.  Tickets are on sale now for $150 each or $1,500 for a table of ten.  Tickets can be purchased at the Cayman Islands Humane Society Shelter’s reception.  The night promises to deliver an atmosphere of a grand Hollywood party, with special guest host, Joseph Avary and music provided by DJ Flex.  All proceeds raised will benefit the animals at the shelter. Photo Credit: Canine Friends A local non-profit organization, Dog Treats Cayman, is repurposing wine boxes into stylish dog feeding stations. This creative endeavour is bringing awareness to both conservation and adopting local animals in need. Heidi and Mark have teamed up with local businesses including: Premier Wines, Grand Old House, Jacques Scott and BlackBeard’s who generously donate wooden wine boxes to be transformed in eco chic dog feeding stations. Repurposing the wooden wine boxes creates a sustainable product and supports local organisations. The elevated dog feeding stations are designed to facilitate healthy eating habits as well as other benefits. 100% of the proceeds are donated to PAWS of East End or Canine Friends. Both local charities encourage the community to adopt rescued animals in need of a forever home. For The Love Of Animals: Ian Somerhalder Foundation Medical Emergency Grants

  Photo Credit: Ian Somerhalder Foundation A truly heartwarming initiative was started by the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF) to aid in the rescue and rehabilitation of animals that have heartbreaking stories of being abused, neglected or suffered a traumatic injury.  These animals are deserving and in need of a second chance.  ISF created their Medical Emergency Program to extend compassion to these animals and assist in aiding to their recovery and wellbeing.  ISF launched their Medical Emergency Grant Program on Valentine’s Day, 2014.  A day symbolizing a commitment of love and compassion towards animals— inspiring others to do the same.  Since the inception of this program, they have helped over 1,000 animals including: cats, dogs, turtles, birds, bats, horses, sheep, cows, sea lions, goats, rabbits, and more.  All have benefited from an ISF Medical Emergency Grant— giving them an improved quality of life, resulting in a touching success stories.  These animal rescues are now living happier lives with their new families in their forever homes. (Kiwi on the left, and Sparta on the right) One year ago today, I had the privilege of adopting Kiwi and Sparta, from the Cayman Islands Humane Society.  Animals bring incredible joy to one’s life.  I had the pleasure of raising Kiwi since he was just a kitten and Sparta, when he was already a year old.  Both are absolute darlings.  My life has been greatly enriched by the unconditional love, my boys King Kiwi & Sir Sparta give everyday. When you adopt an animal from a local animal shelter you aren’t taking home a pet, rather, you are bringing home a new addition to your family.  Growing up I have always been blessed to have cats and dogs.  I cannot image what life would be like without having pets.  Animals have the biggest hearts, they are compassionate, love unconditionally and will leave a lasting impression on your heart.  It is heartbreaking to know that there are hundreds of cats and dogs around the world in need of a forever home.  Thankfully, there are animal …
