International Women’s Day: Girl Power Cayman Visit The Blue Iguanas

In celebration of International Women’s Day, I am sharing a recent private tour of the Blue Iguana Conservation Facility with Girl Power Cayman and Miss World Cayman Islands. Both Miss World Cayman Islands and Girl Power Cayman share a passion for raising awareness about the environment and supporting our community.  On a personal note, it has been such a privilege working with these wonderful organizations.  I am constantly inspired by this strong group of women.  I am thankful for the amazing friendship and sisterhood we all share.  I am so proud of Girl Power Cayman’s enthusiasm and interest in learning more about conservation and ways to help protect our environment.   As previously mentioned, Jaci Patrick, Miss World Cayman Islands 2019 and Girl Power Cayman recently visited the Blue Iguana Conservation Facility located at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park.  We had an incredible guided tour learning fascinating facts about Cayman’s endangered Blue Iguana, which is endemic to Grand Cayman.  The girls were able to ask questions and get an exclusive behind the scenes look …

If you love exploring nature, wildlife encounters and discovering the treasures of the ocean, then get ready for an amazing new show with one of Sweden’s most respected conservationists, Joakim Odelberg.  As a conservationist, wildlife photographer, underwater filmmaker and TV host, Odelberg has a vast amount of incredible stories to share.  His devotion to conservation is admirable and inspiring.  The show is designed as a short format concept.  The idea is for Joakim Odelberg to answer one question about his experience as a conservationist within 40 seconds per episode.  The show creates a unique platform for viewers to connect with a respected conservationist to learn more about conservation.  Viewers also have access to an inside look into what life is like as a world explorer devoted to conservation.  Viewers can submit questions via email, or leave a comment on Mr. Odelberg’s Instagram page.  The show can be watched by subscribing to Mr. Odelberg’s Youtube channel.  Joakim Odelberg developed the show with Annica Lindeberg and Purple Stockholm.  Emma Watson will be a producer for the show.  …

Today, marks International Women’s Day.  A day to celebrate the accomplishments of women and to empower others. On Women’s Day I think it is important that we take time to support one another and acknowledge those who each day are doing their part to make a positive impact in the world, support those who are lifting others up, support those who are working hard to improve the lives of others and their communities, support those who use their voices to speak up about issues that matter to them and embrace their calling and passion to make a positive difference in the world.  They are every day heroes and legends.  We rise by lifting others up and there is so much power in unity.  There is so much beauty in supporting and celebrating the accomplishments of those who inspire and empower us.  I am so proud to see so many of the strong women in my life, from my sister to friends and my personal heroes, all who I admire for working so hard to achieve …

The Wild Ones: 5 Endangered Wildlife Species

Happy World Environment Day! Today, we celebrate World Environment Day.  This year’s theme is appropriately fitting, “Wild for Wildlife.”  Currently, various wildlife species are in crisis as they are faced with loss of their habitat and poaching.  This World Environment Day, we are all encouraged to help raise awareness on behalf of wildlife that being illegally poached and are rapidly declining in population. Very likely, the eco-system would collapse. The environment and world as we know it would go into chaos.  All animals play a significant role in the eco-system and their part is fundamental to keeping an overall balance in our world’s eco-system.  Therefore, it is important that we all work together to raise awareness and do our part in helping to protect the environment and wildlife. The Revival of The Blue Iguanas

In honor of World Wildlife Day, I would like to dedicate this post to raise awareness for the Blue Iguanas, a national beauty and icon of the Cayman Islands. The Blue Iguana Recovery Program, is dedicated to the conservation and preservation of the Blue Iguanas. The once critically endangered species, is beginning to thrive in the wild once again. There was a time when we almost lost our beloved Blue Iguanas, thankfully they are moving out of danger from becoming extinct. Currently, the population of Blue Iguanas has reached over 900, showing promise of reaching a target goal of a population of 1,000 Blue Iguanas. The care and dedication of staff members of the Blue Iguana Recovery Program, along with the success of captive breeding has contributed …

  This morning’s post was all about Spreading Christmas Cheer: Goodwill to all.  In addition, I would like to raise awareness for some amazing environmental organizations both local and international.  In the words of Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Below is a list of some fantastic environmental organizations- my hope is to help raise awareness for them.  Consider making a donation to help them in their efforts in protecting the environment and wildlife.
