Birthday Wishes, Give With Love, xo

On 13th October 2013, I started a birthday tradition, whereby I selected a group of charities to raise awareness and funds for.  I asked friends and family to kindly make a donation in lieu of gifts.  In my twenties, I had reached a point in my life where I no longer needed to accumulate more things.  I love presents just as much as anyone, but the truth was I didn’t need them.  I would rather friends and family give what they would have spent on a birthday present to a charity instead.  So, with that in mind, I used my blog as a platform to help raise awareness for the selected charities over the years.  This year, the theme is blue.  It is the commonality between all three charities I would like to highlight this year.  Blue is representative of the ocean, which directly correlates to both Force Blue and Grand Cayman Eco Divers: Coral Nursery Conservation Program.  Having spent nearly my entire life living on an island, I am drawn to the ocean.  I …

Spreading Christmas Cheer: Goodwill To All

A wonderful way to grant some Christmas wishes and spread some holiday cheer is to make a donation to a local charity or volunteer your time in helping them with their efforts to make a difference in the world.  In the words of Winston Churchill, ” We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”  This Christmas consider supporting and raising awareness for these wonderful local charities working towards making the world a better place, and improving the lives of so many people. Below I have listed some wonderful local charities-  I wanted to highlight these charities and help raise awareness for them. Cayman’s ARK: Acts of Random Kindness  This year I was delighted to help Cayman’s ARK by donating a bag of goodies for their charity drive at Camana Bay. Feed Our Future You can help make a difference in the life of a child.  Their mission is simple, it’s “to provide children in need school meals.”  Did you know? “Current statistics show that over 20% of …

A Pumpkin Full Of Posies

Trying to come up with new holiday decorations is always a fun challenge. After buying a pumpkin to decorate for the month of October, I thought about how I could repurpose that old pumpkin… What was once my Cinderella Themed Pumpkin has now become my Thanksgiving inspired pumpkin. I chose to write this month’s blog theme onto the pumpkin, “give thanks & give with love.” It seemed seasonally appropriate. The Pumpkin Makeover Step 1: Carve out the pumpkin. Originally, I didn’t carve out the pumpkin. Step2 : Decorate. I spray painted the pumpkin with a gold metallic spray. Hiding the original inscription, and modernizing the gemstones previously there. Step 3: Stuff the pumpkin with some brightly colored flowers. Carnations are great, they tend to last quite a long time. Step 4: Write an inscription. Snapshots with love, xo

Give Thanks + Give With Love

Hello Sweet November! November is home to my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving Day!  First off, I am very thankful for this “fall” salty sea breeze!  This is as close as it gets for us in Cayman to fall/winter weather.  Lets be real, it gets as cold as 70’s-80’s, nevertheless it is a wonderful cool breeze. I am hoping this cool wind sticks around right into the new year.  For some of us we need to break out the sweaters.  I have been missing Toronto and my winter wardrobe, so now I finally have an excuse to start wearing my sweaters and blazers.  This is my favorite time of year.  The air has changed.  It feels like something different is in the air, something magical.  I guess it is just the wonder and enchantment of this time of year, as soon as the sea breeze rolls in the countdown to the holidays and all the magic they hold begins.  I have already been pinning recipes to try out for this year’s thanksgiving dinner, and so far …
