Farmer Friday’s: Farm Fresh Eggs

eggs farm friday

A while back you may have read “Got Eggs? Local.  Organic.  Sustainable.”  a feature on the Cayman Egg Farm run by brothers Shanan and Pasmore Harrison.  Today I will be updating you on their lovely, not-for-profit, Cayman farm.

The Harrison brothers  have been pleasantly overwhelmed with growing support from the community and are doing their absolute best to meet the demand for their locally organic farmed eggs.  The strong support from the community has allowed them to continue maintaining their farm, providing excellent care for their hens, with an additional 25 hens, all of which are layers and don’t require a rooster.

The proceeds continue to go towards Shanan’s ministry which has started a series of cooking classes for the youth and adults.  The cooking classes have been well received, and have been a blessing to both Shanan and the individuals who come to his cooking classes.  The youth are very enthusiastic and keen to learn.  There is a lot of educational value for them as they not only acquire lifelong practical cooking skills, but they gain knowledge about the techniques and the food that they are using.  Most importantly they are passionate about cooking and are enjoying what they are learning.  With the success of the cooking classes, more are being planned for the rest of the year. Be sure to contact Shanan to sign up for upcoming classes.

Shanan and Pasmore would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has continuously supported their Cayman Egg Farm.  The support of the community has been overwhelming, and they are so pleased with such a wonderful response from the community, “we could not offer as many classes without the help from our supporters.  We graciously thank them and pray God’s continued blessings on their family.” – Shanan and Pasmore Harrison.

Here is what some loyal supporters have to say about their Cayman farmed organic eggs.

“The eggs are superior to eggs found in the supermarkets, very high quality.” -Robert M. Bush

“They are the only eggs I buy now. Fresh, local, and delicious.” -Chris Spigner

“The eggs are fresher and tastier.” -Sharon Hutchinson Watson

As always, I encourage everyone to do their part to help support local and to support sustainability.  Every day there are local farmers striving to provide their community with high quality organic produce.  Local farms provide a source of organic produce all year round.  There is no need to import from overseas for produce which can be found locally.  By supporting our local farmers we are not only supporting the necessity of sustainability we are benefiting our economy.  Support Local.  Support Sustainability.

with love, from one tree hugger to another. xo
