Sometimes it seems like we get caught up in a world that is moving at such a fast pace, and everything around you begins to blend together, and we lose focus of what is actually surrounding us. Walking through the streets in the city it is so easy to get swept away in the crowds and not notice those who are in desperate need. With the economic crisis we are are currently facing so many are losing their jobs, homes and it begins to feel like what once was solid ground is collapsing beneath you. Poverty is everywhere.
Astonishing Facts About Poverty
“Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.”
“Almost half the world — over three billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day.”

Below is a poem which I wrote about the inequality of this world.
-Inequality-
Hunger
Deprivation
Empty
Alone
Shattered
Immense
Epic
Unfathomable
The weight
Of what one place holds
Unimaginable
To some
This place
They call, Home!
Thirsty
Needy
Beg
Plead
Cry
Out loud
To be heard
Earth rotations
Still suffering
A “standard” of living
Many could not begin to
Understand
What one
Takes for granted
Another
Takes so greatly
Guards tightly
In their humble hands
Inequality
Leaves
“A full world”
Starving
For a helping hand
